Celebrating 200 Stores: A Milestone Moment for Bob’s Discount Furniture

September 9, 2025

This summer, Bob’s Discount Furniture reached an incredible milestone: the opening of our 200th store! While our Wilmington, NC location has the official honor of being store 200, we wanted every location and every employee to understand the role they played in our journey to 200 stores and beyond.

Bob Discount Furniture’s President and CEO Bill Barton shared, “Whether an associate joined Bob’s last month or back in 1991, they are all part of this story. The 200th store milestone is a reminder that behind every delivery, every sale, every guest interaction, there are so many people who helped build Bob’s into what it is today.”

The Secret Behind Bob’s Success

In a special video message to employees, our founder Bob Kaufman reflected on the journey from one small store in 1991 to a coast-to-coast brand with 200 locations today. Bob shared that while our growth has been incredible, the real secret to Bob’s success is simple: smart, dedicated employees who bring energy, creativity, and care to everything they do. Their commitment has built a company culture where value, fun, and giving back to our communities always come first.

But Bob also wanted to thank you, our loyal customers, for your role in our success. Because without customers, there’d be no Bob’s. Let’s hear what Bob’s has to say:

      A Team Effort Worth Celebrating

Throughout the summer, Bob’s employees and partners found many ways to mark the moment. During our annual Home Office Company Cookout, employees gathered together to form the number “200”—a fitting symbol of how every milestone at Bob’s is powered by people.

A large diverse group of people arranged outdoors to form the number "250," symbolizing a milestone or celebration, with trees and pavement visible.

Our Home Office employees also pledged to do 200 hours of work in local communities to mark the occasion.

Many of our sports partners and charitable organizations sent us words of encouragement and even some special memorabilia.

Coming Full-Circle: Looking Back to Look Ahead

As summer reached its unofficial end over Labor Day weekend, our 200-themed festivities also drew to a close but not before having one final celebration where it all began: Newington, Connecticut. The relocation and Grand Opening of our new Newington location wasn’t just another ribbon cutting—it was a powerful reminder of how far we’ve come and the amazing people who got us here. The event, which featured a “Mini Museum of Bob’s History,” food trucks, and fun activities, was set up as a block party as our way of saying thank you to the people of Newington who helped Bob’s get its start. Several customers shared personal anecdotes with Bob Kaufman about their first piece of furniture from Bob’s and why they’ve stayed loyal to the brand throughout the past 30 years.

Two banners highlight Boss Distributors Furniture's growth, featuring a chart showing 30 years of climbing furniture sales to top 100 retailers, with a red arrow rising to 2025 and text: "30 years of climbing Furniture Today's top 100 furniture retailers... BOSS Distributors Furniture" and "and still growing!" A man in a yellow shirt and jeans stands near a TV screen, with promotional signs on the table advertising "Everyday low prices since 1991" and "We sell exclusive brands you won't find anywhere else."

From Newington to every corner of the country, reaching 200 stores is both a celebration and a promise. It’s a celebration of the communities we’ve joined, the families who celebrated their memorable moments with our furniture, and the team that makes it all possible. And it’s a promise that as Bob’s continues to grow, we’ll keep staying true to what got us here: great value, great people, and great furniture.

Here’s to 200—and to the exciting road ahead!
