Celebrating Our Volunteers!

April 30, 2026

Bob’s Discount Furniture has always believed that making a difference starts with showing up and we’re proud that our employees have made volunteerism part of the way we support our communities.

We want to celebrate National Volunteer Month with a look back at all the contributions our employees have made to enrich the communities where we do business not just this April but all year long!

This April, in celebration of National Volunteer Month, we officially launched Bob’s Community Crew, a new initiative dedicated to empowering our employees to give back in the communities where we live and work. Across the country, Bob’s teams are rolling up their sleeves to support neighbors, strengthen communities, and create meaningful change—one project at a time.

We kicked things off close to home in Manchester, Connecticut, where our volunteer team from our headquarters partnered with Rebuilding Together Manchester for a hands-on volunteer day in support of a local homeowner, Lolly.

From the moment we arrived, it was clear this was more than just a volunteer project—it was personal. Lolly came outside to greet our team, walking us through her vision for her garden and sharing how much it meant to her to restore the space she’s always taken pride in. By her side was her 11-year-old dog, Pippi, who quickly became an honorary member of the crew, keeping spirits high and tails wagging throughout the day.

Together, our volunteers got to work clearing and refreshing the yard, bringing new life to the outdoor space, and removing a wooden ramp that had fallen into disrepair. This important step will allow Rebuilding Together to install a safer, more accessible replacement later this season.

At Bob’s, we know that a home is more than just four walls—it’s a source of comfort, dignity, and stability. Lolly’s story is a powerful reminder of how quickly circumstances can change, and how much of a difference a helping hand can make. After facing financial challenges and unexpected home repairs, including a burst pipe this past winter, Lolly has continued to show resilience and pride in her home. We were honored to support her on that journey.

This project also marked our second year partnering with Rebuilding Together Manchester, an organization whose mission—to repair homes, revitalize communities, and rebuild lives—aligns closely with our own commitment to giving back. The local chapter is part of the national Rebuilding Together effort that began in 1973 in Midland, TX. Today, there are more than 200 Rebuilding Together affiliates throughout the country.

Bob’s Community Crew is just getting started, and this is exactly the kind of impact we hope to see all year long. Whether it’s through volunteer days, donations, or community partnerships, our employees are at the heart of everything we do—and their passion for helping others is what makes initiatives like this so special.

Good Night's Rest

Bob’s knows the key to successful outcomes starts with a good night sleep and that’s why we are honored to contribute mattresses to nonprofit organizations.

Since last year, Bob’s has donated hundreds of mattresses to ensure children, families, and youth transitioning out of foster care have a place to rest.

This past August we teamed up with the New England Patriots for the Bed-Zone Bash, providing 200 mattresses to children and families in need in the Boston area.

We recently partnered with the Boston Bruins to deliver and make beds for guests of the Lazarus House Ministries in Massachusetts.

Feeding Neighbors in Need

Every year Bob’s is committed to helping end hunger through financial contributions to organizations focused on ending food insecurity. Last year, Bob’s was proud to share that we gave over $200,000 to fight hunger across the country, which brought our all-time giving over $2M!

In addition to making financial contributions, Bob’s employees are dedicated to participating in meal packing events and food drives.

The box has a flyer that reads: "Show your Bob's Heart by participating in a food drive to benefit City Harvest from 10/12/25 through 1/16/26."

During the holiday season, eight stores across the metro New York and Long Island held their annual food drive to benefit City Harvest. This year they collected over 300 pounds! The partnership started in 2021 with just 35 pounds of food collected. Since then, they have collected over 1,500 pounds of food to benefit City Harvest.

A “Drive” to Help

For many years, Bob’s home office, stores, and distribution centers have organized toy drives and kit packing events to support local organizations.

During the 2025 holiday season, we teamed up with the New York Islanders to collect toys in Bob’s store across Long Island and metro New York. In addition to collecting toys in stores, our volunteers joined the Islanders to collect toys during their annual toy drive held at UBS arena. This year’s drive benefited the Little Saint Nick Foundation.

Additionally, teams of employees have organized holiday toys drives in stores and at our corporate headquarters to benefit area nonprofit organizations.

Across the country, Bob’s volunteers, including Bill Barton, President and CEO, packed care packages for military members supported by our partner, the USO at the Joe Gibbs Racing headquarters in North Carolina.

      “Time” To Help

Giving our time to help in our communities is another way Bob’s volunteers have shown up.

This past fall, Bob’s volunteers in Ohio supported our Café Collections for a Cause partner, Family Promise during a back-to-school back packing event. Family Promise is dedicated to preventing and ending homelessness for families. The team donated school supplies and packed back packs for children served by Family Promise of Greater Cleveland.

Bob’s volunteers from our corporate headquarters in Manchester showed up as well, volunteering for the Special Olympics Winter Games in Connecticut and as sponsors of the Zero Prostate Cancer Walk.

As we celebrate National Volunteer Month, we’re grateful for every employee who steps up to serve—and we can’t wait to keep building stronger communities together throughout the year.
