Bob’s and the Bruins – Ready to Serve!
Bob’s Discount Furniture recently teamed up with the Boston Bruins Foundation to donate new furniture to the Attleboro Fire Department—just in time for International Firefighters’ Day on May 4. It’s a small way to recognize and thank the individuals who are always ready when their community needs them most.
The donated furniture replaces aging seating in the department’s training room, which also serves as the primary day room and central gathering space within the station.
This space plays a critical role in daily operations. It is where firefighters watch training videos, hold company meetings, review emergency responses, support one another after difficult calls, and take time to recharge during long shifts.
Fire Chief Scott T. LaChance emphasized the importance of this support, noting that items like updated furniture are often difficult to accommodate within municipal budgets but have a real impact on daily life, morale, and readiness within the department. “Donations like this are very important to us and we’re very grateful for it,” he said.
Firefighters often transition rapidly from routine activities to life-saving emergencies. One moment may be spent reviewing procedures, and the next responding to a cardiac arrest or structure fire. Upon returning, crews prepare immediately for the next call—making the day room essential for recovery, readiness, and teamwork.
“First responders are near and dear to the Boston Bruins and the Bruins Foundation,” said Bob Sweeney, President and Executive Director of the Bruins Foundation. “Just seeing first-hand what a difference these recliners will make for day-to-day operations is what the Foundation is all about.
“Comfortable, reliable furniture plays a meaningful role in helping crews stay focused and prepared,” said Pat Davies, Chief Human Resources Officer at Bob’s Discount Furniture. “We’re thrilled to partner with the Bruins to support Attleboro Fire Department, and this is one small way to give back to the people who give so much to their communities.”
The donation was recognized with a ribbon-cutting event at Attleboro Fire Headquarters, attended by members of the Boston Bruins organization, community leaders, and the firefighters themselves.
