Back to School, Always Giving: How Bob’s Supports Students and Classrooms

At Bob’s Discount Furniture, supporting schools isn’t just good business—it’s the right thing to do. And we’re honored to continue building stronger classrooms, stronger communities, and brighter futures, one donation at a time.

Schools across the country have felt that commitment firsthand through our donations, school supply drives, event sponsorships, and random acts of kindness. Whether we’re providing comfortable new furniture for student-centered spaces, presenting checks to fund programs, or supporting local events, our goal is simple: to help students and teachers thrive.

Set up for success

Over the years, Bob’s has made countless furniture donations to schools in need. From reading corners to intervention spaces, these gifts create welcoming, functional environments where learning can flourish.

Recently, Capital Regional Associate Instructor Mr. R, shared his thoughts on how his students would benefit from new furniture from Bob’s, “This new furniture has transformed our intervention area into a place that will nurture students’ confidence and growth. When children walk into a space that’s warm, comfortable, and inviting, they relax—and that’s when real learning begins. In an environment like this, they’re not just catching up, they’re discovering that they are capable and worthy of success.”

“School staff give so much to students,” shared Bob’s Communications and Community Outreach Director, Lindsay Ruszczyk, “This is just one small way we can give back.”

Making sure students have the supplies they need

Bob’s knows being prepared for the new school year is important for having successful outcomes for students. Throughout July and August, employees from Bob’s Home Office collected school supplies for students across Greater Hartford in partnership with their local Urban League.

Bob’s Regional Sales Director Melissa Ortins helped deliver supplies to the Boston 25 News ‘Stuff the Bus’ event in August. Bob’s also contributed a $1,000 donation to the Salvation Army as part of the contribution.

A guest experience associate in our Manhattan location as well as our management team in Greater Cleveland also made sure students in their community had backpacks filled with the tools they needed to start the school year off strong.

Bob’s Charitable Foundation is also proud to provide gift cards and sponsorships for fun and educational school events like this Indiana Middle School’s Pinewood Derby, helping to fund the materials for their Bob’s-themed race car.

Random Acts of Kindness

Financial contributions are another way we help fill critical gaps. Our Random Acts of Kindness donations at our Grand Openings have been used by local schools to fund extracurricular programs, technology, teacher training, and more. Between Bob’s Outreach program and Bob’s Charitable Foundation, we’ve donated close to $40,000 so far this year.

Whether it’s through checks, furniture, school supplies, or event sponsorships, every act of giving reflects our belief that investing in education is investing in the future. Bob’s is honored to be part of a fresh start for a great 2025-2026 school year!
