Bob’s Discount Furniture proudly supported the Arizona Diamondbacks recent contribution to “The Diamond,” a transitional housing program supported by Open Hearts Family Wellness.

“The Diamond” is an 11-unit complex offering safe spaces and life training skills to unhoused families and individuals in Arizona. Bob’s was honored to fully furnish three of the apartments in the complex.

“We believe everyone deserves a home,” said Kevin Parker, Divisional Vice President of Bob’s Discount Furniture. “We hope our furniture contribution can help create a home residents of “The Diamond” can love and a place of refuge during this transitional living period.”

The facility was donated by the Arizona Department of Housing and program operations were funded by the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation’s $1 million gift.

The name “The Diamond” is a nod to its connection to the team as well as a nod to the multi-faceted approach to health and healing.

“We are proud to partner with Open Hearts in their efforts to prevent homelessness through mental health programs, employment assistance and social connection:’ said Derrick Hall, D-backs President, CEO & General Partner. “The Diamond will be a home for individuals experiencing homelessness and provide opportunities for a bright future on the road to self-sufficiency:’

Residents, who will begin moving in this month, will be able to take advantage of life skill training, social hours, financial literacy training, mental health sessions, resume building and more, all aimed to help them acquire employment, prepare for the future and find permanent housing.

The Diamond is Open Heart’s first transitional housing location and will launch through the support of the Diamondbacks, through proceeds raised during the team’s annual Evening on the Diamond fundraiser this past March, and the Arizona Department of Housing.

Bob’s also contributed a $2,500 shopping spree to support the Evening on the Diamond fundraiser. Pitcher Ryan Thompson was the recipient of the shopping spree where he visited Bob’s Phoenix location to shop!

Bob’s support of the “The Diamond” marks the first community partnership between the major league baseball team and the company. Preceding the ribbon cutting of the housing facility, members of the Diamondbacks, including Baxter the Bobcat, have visited Bob’s locations to meet guests and try out some furniture.

“Bob’s is thrilled to call the Arizona Diamondbacks our first Phoenix market major league baseball partner,” said Michelle Mader, Vice President of Media and Marketing Performance. “We are grateful to work alongside an organization who shares our commitment to supporting our communities here in Arizona and beyond.”
