Bob’s Outreach is on a mission to help as many schools and non-profits in our community as possible! Our Outreach Team and Van are out and about making our cities and towns a better place with each and every stop! From surprising schools with huge checks to rolling up our sleeves at soup kitchens, we are dedicated to helping worthy causes. Here's a short list of just a few of the many Bob's Outreach Programs that are near and dear to our hearts.
Bob's Café Collections for a Cause
In the Café of each store, a larger than life statue of Bob proudly collects thousands of dollars every month. The collections are driven by our loyal and generous customers who choose to give back to their community, while enjoying free goodies in our Café. Each quarter we select a worthy non-profit to be the recipient of all monies donated by YOU in every Bob's Café chain wide! Bob's matches 100% of your Café Collection donations and gives that directly to the non-profit. So...the more you give, the more we give! It's a win-win!
For our 1st quarter we have selected Special Olympics! Special Olympics provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
For our 2nd quarter, Autism Speaks is the worthy recipient! Autism Speaks is dedicated to improving the lives of persons with autism and their families to help change the future for all who struggle with an autism spectrum disorder.
For our 3rd quarter, we have chosen Save the Children! The Save the Children organization invests in childhood - every day, in times of crisis and for our future. They give children a healthy start, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm.
For our 4th quarter, Bob's Cafe Collections supports the Pajama Program! The Pajama Program provides new pajamas and new books to children in need nationwide, many of whom are waiting to be adopted. These two simple gifts of pajamas and books let the children know that someone cares - sometimes these are the only new things they have ever received.
Random Acts of Kindness
Random Acts of Kindness give additional aid to schools and programs for children. At least one Random Act of Kindness is fulfilled, each month. Giving varies, depending on need. Requests are driven by the community. Bob's Outreach has proudly supported Heavenly Productions over the years... And why? They beat to the same drum we do at Bobs...Heavenly Productions Foundation is a 501c-3 not for profit charity whose mission is to help children in need & in distress. for more info.
March of Dimes
Bob's Discount Furniture has been proud to support the mission of the March of Dimes to prevent birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality for nearly two decades. About four million babies were born in the U.S. last year, and the March of Dimes helped each and every one through research, education, vaccines and breakthroughs. Join our efforts to support the health of moms and babies by joining March for Babies in a city near you and participating in a March for Babies walk!
Outreach is Active!
Walks, talks, events! If our Bob's Outreach team can make it, we will be there!! Whether March of Dimes walks, school visits or rolling up our sleeves at soup kitchens, our amazing team is there. The list of charitable events we support is long and continues to grow each and every day. We mean business.
Celebrate the Arts
Budget cuts are everywhere, especially in the schools. Programs for the Arts are the first to go. Our desire to combat the cuts and help schools keep, and grow, their Cultural Arts Programs, spurred the development of our hugely popular Celebrate the Arts Contest. The contest takes place at the start of each school year and entries are submitted via a simple entry form on mybobs.com. One lucky winner is awarded a $25,000 grant to support Cultural Arts Programs in their school! Look for this exciting contest on mybobs.com right around back to school time!
Reach Out and Read
Bob’s Discount Furniture is proud to announce a new year-long initiative to boost early childhood literacy by donating books to kids at local children’s hospitals in partnership with the Reach Out and Read program. Children’s author Tish Rabe helped launch the program at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in early March 2015, by reading aloud one of her Cat in The Hat rhyming science books. Learn more
