{"id":8814,"date":"2026-03-16T15:39:47","date_gmt":"2026-03-16T19:39:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mybobs.com\/blog\/?p=8814"},"modified":"2026-03-16T15:39:47","modified_gmt":"2026-03-16T19:39:47","slug":"bobs-partners-with-the-uso-to-create-a-home-away-from-home-at-naval-sub-base","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mybobs.com\/blog\/bobs-partners-with-the-uso-to-create-a-home-away-from-home-at-naval-sub-base\/","title":{"rendered":"Bob\u2019s Partners with the USO to Create a Home Away from Home at Naval Sub Base"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Bob\u2019s is proud to support USO New England by helping to furnish their newly relocated and renovated center at the Naval Submarine Base in New London, Connecticut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A ribbon cutting ceremony was recently held for the new center located in the Dealey Center Theater at the Naval Submarine Base and features a welcoming space for military personnel and families to take a break and access many of the programs and services provided by the USO and its volunteers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since opening in June 2021, the USO New England Center has played an essential role in supporting Sailors and their families. Working in harmony with the base\u2019s Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Program, the center provides a welcoming place to relax, recharge, and connect\u2014whether that means grabbing a snack, spending time with loved ones, or simply feeling a little closer to home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now triple the size of the previous center, the new center offers features computer workstations and refreshments on one side and a recreation center on the other, which features Bob\u2019s recliners, side chairs, and coffee tables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-nowrap is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-ad2f72ca wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" data-id=\"8824\" Jennifer Thompson, Executive Director, USO NE &amp; NY. \u201cCreating a refreshed, welcoming space where they can connect, recharge, and feel supported makes a real difference in their day-to-day well-being. Kenneth Curtin Jr. who was the 53rd Commanding Officer of Naval Submarine Base New London from 2021 to 2025. &#8220;The demands of the submarine community are unlike any other,\u201d he said. \u201cLong, often silent deployments. Extended separation. Our sailors carry this weight. Bob\u2019s is also supporting the USO through the Plushies for Charity program through the end of 2026.
