I can think of no other fruit (yes, pumpkins are a fruit!) that has the honor of being an icon of not one, but TWO fabulous fall holidays (fall-idays?). From mid-August through Thanksgiving pumpkins are everywhere! Coffee, beer, cereal, soap, and of course, home decor! Love them or hate them, pumpkins have true staying power. And, since pumpkins are my personal favorite part of fall, this super easy DIY will supply you with plenty of pumpkin vibes and some new decor to use for years to come. So pour yourself a pumpkin beverage of your choice, turn on your go-to Halloween movie, and gather your materials to set the mood!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What you\u2019ll need:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"700\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.mybobs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Artboard-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4634\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mybobs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Artboard-1.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.mybobs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Artboard-1-300x210.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mybobs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Artboard-1-768x538.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><figcaption><em>Tip&#8211;if you can find foam pumpkins in the same colors as your yarn, this will help make any small gaps in the yarn less visible.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Foam pumpkins in assorted sizes (you can usually find these at your local dollar stores)<\/li><li>Your favorite yarns in a variety of weights, colors, and textures<\/li><li>An apple corer &amp; scissors<\/li><li>Optional: A plastic weaving needle<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 1: Gourd Ready<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"700\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.mybobs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Artboard-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4635\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mybobs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Artboard-2.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.mybobs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Artboard-2-300x210.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mybobs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Artboard-2-768x538.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><figcaption><em>Tip&#8211;a medium weight yarn is best. Too light and you\u2019ll have to wrap way more than you expected. Too heavy, and it will be a real challenge to feed through, though not impossible.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The very first thing you will need for this project is yarn! The heavier the weight, the less wrapping you\u2019ll have to do and the less length you\u2019ll need. If you\u2019re making more than one pumpkin, try a couple different weights to add some fun textures to your assortment. Once you have picked out your perfect yarn, cut a long strand to start with. There\u2019s no right or wrong length, especially since the weight of the yarn and size of the pumpkin will call for different amounts. Plus, if you didn\u2019t cut enough, you can always cut additional strands without compromising the project! Whatever length you choose, make sure you have plenty to work with, but not so much that it\u2019s unmanageable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 2: Carve Out Some Fun<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"700\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.mybobs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Artboard-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4636\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mybobs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Artboard-3.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.mybobs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Artboard-3-300x210.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mybobs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Artboard-3-768x538.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><figcaption><em>Tip&#8211;if you\u2019re using a thicker yarn, it\u2019s best to make the hole slightly larger, approximately the size of a quarter or half dollar coin.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Next up&#8211;pick your pumpkin! The stem of your pumpkin should pop right out. Remove it, and set aside. If you weren\u2019t able to find any good branches, you can reuse this for your stem at the end. The last step of preparation is to use your apple corer and press a hole through the center of the pumpkin. Don\u2019t worry if it\u2019s not pretty&#8211;your yarn will cover it! Using a larger pumpkin or a heavier weight yarn will mean coring out a little more, or making the hole a little wider.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 3: Mummy said \u201cThat\u2019s a wrap!\u201d<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"700\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.mybobs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Artboard-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4637\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mybobs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Artboard-4.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.mybobs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Artboard-4-300x210.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mybobs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Artboard-4-768x538.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><figcaption><em>Tip&#8211;wrapping from the middle out and alternating sides helps make a lengthy string way more manageable!<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Time to make magic happen! Grab your very first strand of yarn and pull it through to the middle of the strand. Tie a knot on one end and loop around and through as many times as the length of your yarn will allow, then work from the other end over and through until your pumpkin is fully wrapped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"700\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.mybobs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Artboard-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4638\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mybobs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Artboard-5.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.mybobs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Artboard-5-300x210.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mybobs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Artboard-5-768x538.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><figcaption><em>Tip&#8211;yarn cut too short? Tie an additional piece onto the end to extend the length, or tuck your knots early and start with a new strand.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are working with a lighter weight yarn, I suggest using a plastic weaving needle to help feed it through&#8211;you\u2019ll thank me at the end, I promise! In the event you didn\u2019t cut enough, grab another strand and repeat the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 4: #SquashGoals<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"700\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.mybobs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Artboard-6.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4639\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mybobs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Artboard-6.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.mybobs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Artboard-6-300x210.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mybobs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Artboard-6-768x538.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><figcaption><em>Tip&#8211;sometimes the original stem doesn\u2019t have a long enough post to stabilize in the center. Use sticks or small tree branches from the backyard for some added length and that extra Fall feel.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Almost there! Gently tuck all your knots inside the pumpkin, and top it off by squeezing your stem into the center of the pumpkin. It shouldn\u2019t need any extra reinforcement, but you can always hot glue it just to be safe! Voila!
