The fact that she was working all morning was true, but it wasn’t on a school project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Christina, Makenna and a team of volunteers from <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Bob's Discount Furniture (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.mybobs.com\/?utm_medium=content&utm_source=BobsBlog&utm_campaign=colts&utm_content=bobshyperlink\" target=\"_blank\">Bob’s Discount Furniture<\/a>, Operation Homefront, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colts.com\/?utm_medium=content&utm_source=BobsBlog&utm_campaign=colts&utm_content=coltshyperlink\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Indianapolis Colts (opens in a new tab)\">Indianapolis Colts<\/a> were busy removing every piece of furniture from their current home and replacing it with brand new furniture. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The volunteers started early in the morning so they could surprise Brian, an Army National Guard veteran, when he returned home this Veterans Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The team of volunteers including Colts cheerleaders, \u201cBlue,\u201d and Nyheim Hines were eagerly awaiting his arrival and welcomed him with a big “surprise” when he opened the front door.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Brian\u2019s Story<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.mybobs.com\/bobs-outreach?utm_medium=content&utm_source=BobsBlog&utm_campaign=colts&utm_content=familyphoto\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/mybobs.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/DSC_0413-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Army National Guard veteran Brian Sawyer with his family, Colts running back Nyheim Hines, Colts cheerleaders and Blue | Bob\u2019s Discount Furniture \" class=\"wp-image-2459\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mybobs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/DSC_0413-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.mybobs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/DSC_0413-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mybobs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/DSC_0413-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.mybobs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/DSC_0413-1168x779.jpg 1168w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Army National Guard veteran Brian Sawyer with his family, Colts running back Nyheim Hines, Colts cheerleaders and Blue. <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>While serving in Afghanistan, Brian suffered from a traumatic brain injury and a broken clavicle caused by an IED explosion. Following several extremely difficult years after Brian returned home, the Sawyers applied and were accepted into <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Operation Homefront\u2019s (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.operationhomefront.org\/?utm_medium=content&utm_source=BobsBlog&utm_campaign=colts&utm_content=operationhomefronthyperlink\" target=\"_blank\">Operation Homefront\u2019s<\/a> Homes on the Homefront program and recently moved into their new home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ahead of the furniture delivery, Brian\u2019s wife, Christina, participated in a shopping trip at my Castleton location, where she selected five sets of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"bedroom furniture (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.mybobs.com\/furniture\/bedroom?utm_medium=content&utm_source=BobsBlog&utm_campaign=colts&utm_content=bedroomfurniturehyperlink\" target=\"_blank\">bedroom furniture<\/a>, two sets of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"furniture for living areas (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.mybobs.com\/furniture\/living-room?utm_medium=content&utm_source=BobsBlog&utm_campaign=colts&utm_content=livingroomhyperlink\" target=\"_blank\">furniture for living areas<\/a>, a new <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"dining room set (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.mybobs.com\/furniture\/dining-room\/c\/dining-room-sets?utm_medium=content&utm_source=BobsBlog&utm_campaign=colts&utm_content=diningroomhyperlink\" target=\"_blank\">dining room set<\/a>, and the kitchen. By working closely with my Outreach team, Operation Homefront, and Colts teams, Christina and Makenna helped coordinate an amazing, and much deserved, surprise for Brian and the children. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Darcy Clardy, senior director of Operation Homefront summed up the day by saying, \u201cWe are thrilled that Bob\u2019s Discount Furniture and the Indianapolis Colts choose to honor veterans and military families through an impactful partnership with Operation Homefront. My Castleton, Indiana store managers, Eric Wilkerson and Monica Payton, who helped Christina pick out the furniture even stopped by to help her prepare her home for the new furniture. Happiness? Tears? When we saw his car pull in, we knew we were about to find out; the months of planning this special \u201cthanks\u201d for Brian were about to pay off!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>You\u2019re Going to the Colts Game!<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After the big reveal of all the new furniture, the Colts had one final surprise for Brian and his family\u2013tickets to the Colts game on Sunday, Nov. 17 against Jacksonville. In addition to the tickets, the family was able to step on the turf at Lucas Oil Stadium to watch their hometown Colts warmup. How cool is that?! And each family member received a special Colts fan pack. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a
