If it’s wrinkled, throw it in the dryer quickly or steam it! Then place it centered on your table. </p> </div></div> <div class="wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile"><div class="wp-block-media-text__content"> <p>Next you will want to lay out your greenery right along the center. Faux or real eucalyptus will work just fine! They can get pricey, but you will be able to reuse these whenever! Double up on the stems in the very center for extra fullness. Save one of the strands to cut up for the place settings.</p> <p><strong>If using real</strong> – Place them in water the very second you get home and keep them in there until you’re ready to set the table, preferably no longer than an hour before your guests arrive so that they stay looking fresh! Once you take them out of the water, pat them dry so they don’t wet your table or runner. You can leave the stems as is and place them in opposite directions on your table runner, or cut them up so they’re easier to manipulate to your liking! I cut the stems, and then wrapped pieces together with green floral wire. I used faux pumpkins in varying sizes, all in white.</p> </div></div> <p> You can use real or faux, different sizes or all the same – it’s all about your personal preference! You can also opt for larger size pumpkins for the very center.</p> <div class="wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile"><div class="wp-block-media-text__content"> <p>Lastly, add your twinkle! Tea lights will complete your centerpiece giving it a cozy, festive vibe. I used small glass jars with real tea light candles inside. If your guests are arriving soon, you can light your candles now! If it’s going to be a while, you may want to save that for the last step.</p> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Place settings</h2> <p>Once you have your centerpiece complete, you can move onto the place settings. My gold charger plates compliment my cutlery well since they are both gold. White plates are best because they are very versatile and elegant, but you can use whatever plates you have.</p> <p>Napkins! Solid neutral napkins will tie in the table runner, the pumpkins, and keep your setting looking clean and elegant. There are many different ways to fold cloth napkins, but I wanted to keep it simple for this one. Feel free to switch it up! Place them each in the center of the napkins. This small addition adds a dainty, whimsical touch to each guest’s place setting. If you prefer to add some pumpkins here instead, those will look great too!</p> <div class="wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile"><div class="wp-block-media-text__content"> <p>Finally, place your cutlery on either side of the charger, on your table. You can keep it simple with a salad fork, dinner fork, and knife or add in a spoon as well. A third color and a chofa (sofa + chaise) were added when the merchandising team saw the success of the collection.</p> <p>The sofa is offered in soft shades of teal and gray as well as a retro russet color, that caught the eye of the Cosmopolitan writer. “Burnt orange is one of the color spectrum’s greatest gifts to humanity, and that’s just facts,” penned journalist Annabel Iwegbue. “Now, I present you with this lovely mid-century-inspired sofa to back up my argument.”</p> <p>Paccione said the merchandising team is thrilled that Cosmopolitan has taken note of the sofa. “It’s great that the Bettie Collection is recognized,” commented Paccione. “It’s stylish, has endless options, is comfortable, and is a great value.”</p> <p>If you want a little insider info, I have it on good authority that the team will be expanding the Bettie collection to other rooms in the home. And, since pumpkins are my personal favorite part of fall, this super easy DIY will supply you with plenty of pumpkin vibes and some new decor to use for years to come. Too light and you’ll have to wrap way more than you expected. Too heavy, and it will be a real challenge to feed through, though not impossible.</em></figcaption></figure></div> <p>The very first thing you will need for this project is yarn! The heavier the weight, the less wrapping you’ll have to do and the less length you’ll need. If you’re making more than one pumpkin, try a couple different weights to add some fun textures to your assortment. Once you have picked out your perfect yarn, cut a long strand to start with. There’s no right or wrong length, especially since the weight of the yarn and size of the pumpkin will call for different amounts. Plus, if you didn’t cut enough, you can always cut additional strands without compromising the project! The stem of your pumpkin should pop right out. Remove it, and set aside. If you weren’t able to find any good branches, you can reuse this for your stem at the end. The last step of preparation is to use your apple corer and press a hole through the center of the pumpkin. Don’t worry if it’s not pretty–your yarn will cover it! Grab your very first strand of yarn and pull it through to the middle of the strand. Gently tuck all your knots inside the pumpkin, and top it off by squeezing your stem into the center of the pumpkin. It shouldn’t need any extra reinforcement, but you can always hot glue it just to be safe! Voila! Below are the ones I used:</p> <ul class="wp-block-list"><li>16 oz box of Spring mix</li><li>2 Red Bosc pears</li><li>½ cup – 1 cup Cranberries & glazed walnuts – they come premixed!</li><li>⅓ cup Roasted pepitas or pumpkin seeds</li><li>⅓ cup Gorgonzola cheese</li><li>Bottle of Raspberry vinaigrette</li></ul> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">1. I used spring mix – a mixed medley made up of fresh greens and lettuce of varying tastes and textures. It’s colorful and flavorful – a perfect base to any salad. My second choice would have been arugula, it has a distinctive, tart, peppery taste that some may not like, but I LOVE.</p> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">2. You can gently squeeze the pear, it should have a bit of give if it’s firm. Avoid soft pears, as they can get mushy in the salad.</p> <p>If pears aren’t your thing, apples will be just as delicious!</p> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">3. Make sure it’s crumbled up so it doesn’t clump together. These can be glass or of any color, and preferably not textured, since you will be adding in the texture. Go with a vase that you like the silhouette of! </li><li>Rubbing alcohol and paper towels</li><li>Water based paint (latex paint) or craft store paint – you can use any off white color you’d like. I used Vanilla! </li><li>Baking soda – this may seem out of place, but trust me, it’s all about the texture</li><li>Paint stirrer</li><li>Mixing bowl</li><li>Small paint brush or foam brush</li><li>Newspaper, cardboard, or a drop cloth</li></ul> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">1. <strong>But first, alcohol! (Not the kind you drink)</strong></h2> <p>Before you begin painting your vase, you will want to get it clean so that your paint adheres better. Pour some rubbing alcohol onto a paper towel and wipe your vase clean. If there’s any glue residue from price stickers, make sure to scrub that off as well. Once you’ve got a clean vase, you may begin! Lay down your newspaper or drop cloth base and let’s get started!</p> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">2. <strong>A little bit of this, a little bit of that</strong></h2> <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://blog.mybobs.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/4-1024x683.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-4584" srcset="https://www.mybobs.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/4-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.mybobs.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/4-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.mybobs.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/4-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.mybobs.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/4-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https://www.mybobs.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/4-1168x779.jpg 1168w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure> <p>Place your vase aside and begin the mixing! Pour a little bit of paint into the bowl followed by a little bit of baking soda. As a general rule to make this textured paint mix 5 parts paint to 1 part baking soda. With your paint stirrer, mix, mix, mix! The key is to get a consistency that isn’t so liquidy, that you won’t achieve any texture, or a consistency that’s too dry where it’ll just clump on and crack right off. A thick paste is what you should aim for! The best part is, if you start painting and realize it’s not the right thickness, you can easily re-mix, and paint right over it!</p> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">3. <strong>Get to painting</strong></h2> <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://blog.mybobs.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/6-1024x683.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-4586" srcset="https://www.mybobs.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/6-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.mybobs.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/6-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.mybobs.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/6-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.mybobs.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/6-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https://www.mybobs.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/6-1168x779.jpg 1168w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure> <p>Grab your paint brush or foam brush and begin painting. There is no right or wrong way to go about your brush strokes. It’s all about preference! You can do vertical strokes, horizontal strokes, or circular strokes! You may want to let your first layer dry, then apply a second layer by dabbing the paint on to add more texture. With or without greenery! Walking into your bedroom at night and waking up in the morning shouldn’t cause you stress, it should relieve you of it. Not to brag, but I have my very own memory foam, and it’s in my mattresses, pillows, even chairs and sofas! You may not realize it, but a quality <a href="https://blog.mybobs.com/mattresses/c/pillows" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">pillow</a> and mattress can relieve pain from your head to your toes. It also can create a cleaner, cooler sleep environment, and even help you breathe better. I know it’s an easy step to skip in the mornings and seems harmless, but you’ll thank yourself at bedtime when you climb under the covers. A great fitted <a href="https://blog.mybobs.com/home-decor/c/bed-sheets" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">sheet set</a> (that actually fits!) is an easy shortcut to keeping your bedding looking crisp. When shopping for sheets, make sure you know not just your mattress size, but the depth. Not all mattresses are created equal. Sheets with a deeper pocket than your mattress are more prone to slipping off if you’re an exceptionally restless sleeper. Glass of water, night time reading, phone or alarm clock, but that’s pretty much it, right? I put drawers in my nightstands for a reason–so you have somewhere to put your stuff! I suggest anything that you won’t be touching when you wake up for a midnight snack be tucked away in your top drawer. Many of my nightstands even have felt lined top drawers to take gentle care of the important things. What’s better than that? How about built-in wireless charging so you can cut the cord?
