Bob's Discount Furniture Recognized by National Red CrossBob Kaufman Accepts Exclusive "Circle of Humanitarians" Award
The "Circle of Humanitarians" award is given to individuals and businesses across the nation for their generous support of the humanitarian efforts of the American Red Cross. Major Gifts Officer Matt Rabin from the Washington D. C. headquarters of the Red Cross presented the award to Mr. Kaufman. Other members of the "Circle of Humanitarians" include Paul Newman, Wal-Mart, Bristol-Myers Squibb, The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Target. "The Circle of Humanitarians is the Red Cross's highest financial support honor. The award recognizes support of Red Cross and exists to honor the relationship between the recipient, the Red Cross and, ultimately, Red Cross clients," Mr. Rabin said while presenting the award. Since 1996, Bob's Discount Furniture has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of advertising time and floor space to support the collection of 9,162 units (pints) of blood across four New England states. Mr. Kaufman recently committed to underwriting a bloodmobile for the Connecticut Blood Services Region. People who weigh at least 110 lbs., are age 17 or older, and are in good health, may be eligible to become a blood donor.
