Organizers hope to raise more than $300,000 for local charities
Farmington,
CT, August 9, 2005 - Organizers of the 18th Annual Bob’s
Discount Furniture Charitable Foundation and Gene Rosenberg Associates
Golf Outing hope to raise more than $300,000. The golf outing will
be held today in Farmington, CT at the Tunxis Country Club, followed
by a dinner and raffle at the Farmington Club. Bob's Charitable Foundation
will distribute the proceeds in support of local charities including:
The American Cancer Society’s Camp Rising Sun, The Nutmeg Chapter
of Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Family and Children’s Aid, and The
Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.
“Bob’s Charitable Foundation outing has been a great source
of support to us over the years it has enabled us to offer mentoring
to many more children than ever expected,” said Laura Green of
Nutmeg Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Bob’s Charitable Foundation
was founded in 1986 to help children who have not been given a fair
shot at childhood.
Seventeen years ago, at the first outing, fifty people attended dinner.
At this year's outing, dinner will be served to more than 400 participants. “We
are grateful to all our partners, friends and business associates for
helping us to make this event the best ever," said co-organizer
Gene Rosenberg.
“I want to personally thank all the participants in this outing
for providing a record amount of support to benefit needy children," said
Bob Kaufman, president of Bob's Discount Furniture. In addition to
distributing significant funds each year, the Foundation provides gift
certificates to various agencies for clients with children who need
some extra help obtaining bedding and furniture. Additional requests
are supported daily to organizations in the New England region looking
for assistance with fundraisers, furnishings and programs. Agencies
