Bob’s Discount Furniture to Donate Furniture to Rebuilding Together
WHAT: On Wednesday, May 12, Bob’s Discount Furniture will donate furniture to the national, non-profit organization Rebuilding Together and the Sears “Heroes At Home” Transitional Housing Facility Repair/Modifications event on Maple Court in Springfield, MA. The furniture will be delivered to the Veterans’ Housing Facility off of Maple Street and volunteers will join with skilled trades and help build and repair veterans’ homes.
Volunteers at the event will include Rebuilding Together; Barnes Army & National Guard Base; Bradley Air National Guard; Ray Theroux Electrician; Sears Store in Enfield; Sears Store in Springfield; Soldier On – Nonprofit; Springfield Technical Community College's Media Department; United Technologies Corp. (UTC Flight Division); Westover Air Force Base.
Also attending the event will include Springfield’s Mayor Domenic Sarno; Tom Aiello, VP of Public Relations Sears Holding Corporation/IL; Gary Officer, CEO of Rebuilding Together; Wing Commander at Westover Colonel Swain; Vanessa Georgeson, Director of Veterans Housing RT; John Judge Chief Development Officer of Springfield; Rebuilding Together Board Members from Babson Capital; MassMutual; TD Bank; Hampden Bank; United Bank; Meyers Brothers; Kalicka PC, Faith United Church; Home Builder’s Association and Springfield Neighborhood Housing Services.
As part of Bob’s Discount Furniture’s community outreach program and its commitment to the communities served by its stores, Bob’s Discount Furniture will donate furniture to the veterans’ homes. With this donation, Bob’s is honored to play a vital role in the enhancement programs within the veteran community.
Additionally, Baystate Hospital’s new, state-of-the-art, 5-bed bloodmobile will be there for donors. The event will be featured live on WMAS-FM 94.7 radio (Citadel) and AM560 WHYN (Clear Channel Communications). Food will be donated by the WMASS Bilingual Veterans Association, Onyx Fusion Restaurant, Pizzeria Uno, Pazzo’s Italian Ristorante, Red Rose Pizzeria, and Friendly’s Ice Cream Corporation.
