BOB’S DISCOUNT FURNITURE HELPS TURN OFFICES INTO NEW STUDENT GALLERY

Local Retailer Donates Furniture To Support Connecticut Schools of Regional District Four And Its Efforts Behind The Arts and Academics For Students K-12

(Manchester, CT) February 17, 2010 – Bob's Discount Furniture, with 36 retail store locations throughout New England, New Jersey and New York, announces today it has furnished the Connecticut Schools of Regional District Four’s new Student Gallery, “The Mosaic”, with the donation of a $1500 Bob’s Discount Furniture Gift Card.  Once an ordinary administrative building, the home of Regional District Four School employee offices will host a grand opening of its transformation with a gallery of student achievements – both art and academic – from students enrolled in grades K-12 on February 24, 2010 at 4 p.m.

As part of its ongoing Random Acts of Kindness Program, Bob’s Discount Furniture has supported several non-profit organizations in the communities surrounding each Bob’s Discount Furniture store location, with a special focus on children, as well as art and academic initiatives.  In addition to its support for “The Mosaic” Student Gallery, the Bob’s Outreach Program hosts a Celebrate the Arts Contest each year giving a school in each of the 7 seven states Bob’s operates, the chance to win a $5,000 grant to support its arts programs.
“We’re so excited to help support the new Student Gallery and Connecticut Schools of Regional District Four,” said Cathy Poulin, public relations director, Bob’s Discount Furniture and also a regional district four resident herself. “Bob’s Outreach Program is thrilled to be involved in the opportunity for students to showcase their passions and talents.”
Connecticut Schools of Regional District Four include the communities of Chester, Deep River and Essex all of which abide by a strong mission to engage all students in a rigorous, challenging, and cohesive educational program.  Through a high school run contest, the Student Gallery was named “The Mosaic” in an effort to represent the collaborative efforts of Region Four students and the unity of their different backgrounds, cultures, and heritages. Each individual piece in the Student Gallery contributes to the larger picture, capturing a snapshot of Tri-Town diversity, creativity and ingenuity.
“We are so proud to see this transformation come to life on opening day with the student involvement woven into this cultural tapestry,” said Ruth Levy, Superintendent, Connecticut Schools of Regional District Four. “Through the contests, the students expressed that through ‘The Mosaic’ their differences will intertwine to create something bigger than themselves while simultaneously expressing their individuality.  We’re very fortunate to give them this new outlet.”
