Furniture Retailer Opens 39th Store in Manhattan, Brings 72 New Jobs to Community and
Donates $5,000 to Opus 118 Harlem School of Music
(Manchester, CT) June 22, 2010 – Bob's Discount Furniture today announces the opening of its newest store location in Manhattan, N.Y. now bringing the total to 39 stores located throughout New England, New Jersey and New York. This latest opening comes shortly after Bob’s expanded its retail presence earlier this year with openings in Nesconset and Flushing, N.Y. and Secaucus, N.J. The retailer has plans to open one more store during 2010, bringing the total to 40 stores by the end of the year.
Bob’s Discount Furniture has always been dedicated to offering its customers great furniture at unbeatable prices. In today’s economic environment, this focus on unmatched value is increasingly attractive to consumers and has enabled the company to continue aggressive expansion in 2010. The new store location in Manhattan will bring 72 jobs to the local community, raising the total number of new jobs brought to the New York area up to 409 since the Flushing and Nesconset store openings earlier this year and the 2009 store openings in Yonkers, Poughkeepsie and Carle Place.
“It is with much anticipated excitement that we kick off the summer with our 39th new store in Manhattan,” said Bob Kaufman, president, Bob’s Discount Furniture. “The entire Bob’s team looks forward to offering a new community our commitment to quality furniture at everyday low prices plus our commitment to helping the people in it through Bob’s Outreach Program.”
Grand opening festivities will kick-off at the East River Plaza, 517 East 117th Street on Thursday, July 1 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and events and activities will run throughout the Fourth of July weekend. Through its Bob’s Outreach program Bob’s Discount Furniture will be making a $5,000 donation to the Opus 118 Harlem School of Music as part of the company’s continued efforts to support local education.
