BOB’S DISCOUNT FURNITURE KICKS OFF RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS CAMPAIGN IN NEW JERSEY

Local Retailer Donates Over $15,000 To Local Communities

(Manchester, CT) May 18, 2010 – Bob's Discount Furniture, with 36, soon to be 38, retail store locations throughout New England, New Jersey and New York, announces today, through its Random Acts of Kindness program, that it will be launching an in-store donation campaign to give back to local education. The campaign will first kick off in the state of New Jersey and continue throughout the year, touching upon all states in which Bob’s operates in.

In each of Bob’s Discount Furniture Stores, containers will be placed for customers to donate. At the end of each month, Bob’s will collect the donations and donate it to randomly chosen schools in the area. Through its Random Acts of Kindness program, Bob’s Discount Furniture has supported several non-profit organizations in the communities surrounding each of its store locations with a special focus on children, as well as art and academic initiatives.

In May, the lucky winners in New Jersey are:
•    Memorial Elementary School, 203 Midland Avenue, Paramus
•    East End Elementary School, 170 Oneida Avenue, North Plainfield
•    Brooks Crossing Elementary School, 50 Deans Rhode Hall Road, Monmouth Junction
•    Number 34 Elementary School, 1830 John F. Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City
•    Ross Street Elementary #11, 110 Ross Street, Woodbridge

In addition, as part of its ongoing Random Acts of Kindness program, Bob’s will donate $1,500 each to the Secaucus Child Guidance Foundation, the Secaucus Youth Alliance and Friends of Secaucus Public Library on May 26. The Random Acts of Kindness program will coincide with Bob’s in-store donations campaign, in which this month Bob’s will be reaching out to New Jersey with Random Acts of Kindness donations to non-profit organizations and local schools.

“We’re so excited to help support the New Jersey local community,” said Cathy Poulin, public relations director, Bob’s Discount Furniture. “Bob’s Outreach Program is thrilled to be involved in all of these opportunities for students and the local communities.”

Lastly, Bob’s Discount Furniture will be opening two new store locations on May 27 in Secaucus, NJ and Flushing, NY, and will make $10,000 in donations to youth-focused organizations in these two communities.
