(Manchester, CT) – Today, Bob's Discount Furniture, the fastest growing furniture retailer in the northeast, with stores in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island, announced that it raised over $340,000 for children's charities during the 21st Annual Bob's Discount Furniture Foundation Golf & Auction event that was held last week in Farmington, Connecticut.

With over 340 business and community leaders in attendance at the annual charitable foundation event, Bob Kaufman, president, Bob's Discount Furniture, and Gene Rosenberg, co-founder, Bob's Discount Furniture and CEO, Planned Furniture Promotions (www.pfpromotions.com), presented $20,000 to the Scott Mulready Foundation at the Connecticut Children's Medical Center, Hartford, CT (www.ccmckids.org); $60,000 to The Jimmy Fund, Brookline, MA (www.jimmyfund.org); $70,000 to Family and Children's Aid, Danbury, CT (www.fcaweb.org); and $100,000 to the American Cancer Society's Camp Rising Sun Charitable Foundation, N. Branford, CT (www.camprisingsun.com).

"We would like to thank all of this year's attendees and charitable foundation supporters! Because of the generous financial contributions of our foundation supporters, there will be more assistance and more vital programs available for children in need throughout our region," said Kaufman.

"This year's golf and auction fundraiser was also special because we unveiled the new Bob's Discount Furniture Community Outreach Van. Already on the road and performing ‘random acts of kindness', the Community Outreach Van has toured Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, New Hampshire and many other states while donating hundreds of items to schools and nonprofit groups," explained Cathy Poulin, TV personality and public relations director, Bob's Discount Furniture. "Most recently, we donated several computers and a $500 gift card to a middle school in Bronx, NY".
