BOB’S DISCOUNT FURNITURE INVITES FAMILIES TO COZY UP TO NICKELODEON© STARS DURING EVENT TO BENEFIT CHILDREN IN NEED. DONATIONS MADE TO THE PAJAMA PROGRAM.
Bob's Discount Furniture, the 2008 Furniture Retailer of the Year with 31 stores throughout New England and New York, today announced it is teaming up with national nonprofit the Pajama Program for Keep our Children Safe and Warm Day on Saturday, February 28, 2009. As a part of the Bob’s Discount Furniture ongoing Random Acts of Kindness outreach program, the retailer is hosting festivities at each one of its locations. Store visitors will have an opportunity to meet various Nickelodeon© characters and help children in need through donations to the Pajama Program.
During Keep our Children Safe and Warm Day, people are encouraged to drop off new pajamas and new books at their local Bob's Discount Furniture store. Along with their donations, families should come armed with a camera, because with each donation participants will have an opportunity to meet a famous Nickelodeon© TV character. The Pajama Program is looking for donations that are appropriate for infants and children up to 17 years old. Together, Bob’s Discount Furniture and the Pajama Program will provide the donated items to children in need throughout the country.
Whether it is Dora the Explorer™ or Tommy™ or Chuckie™ from Rugrats™, attendees can find out which Nickelodeon© character will be at their neighborhood Bob’s Discount Furniture location by clicking here. Characters will be in store from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Bob’s Discount Furniture TV personalities Bob Kaufman and Cathy Poulin will also be making in-store appearances that day with Bob visiting the South Attleboro and Bellingham, MA stores, and Cathy at the Stoughton and Dedham, MA stores.
“We’re excited to bring this program to the communities that Bob’s Discount Furniture calls home and create awareness for an extremely worthy cause such as the Pajama Program,” said Cathy Poulin, Bob's Discount Furniture TV personality. “This is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the magic of giving with the young people in our lives, all while having a lot of fun with some of today’s most popular cable TV characters like SpongeBob SquarePants™, Jimmy Neutron™ , and Uniqua™ and Pablo™ from The Backyardigans!™”
The Pajama Program provides new pajamas and new books to needy children in the United States, many who are waiting and hoping to be adopted. The program started with personal contributions and has now grown nationwide, donating over 310,000 pairs of warm pajamas to date. The organization's overall mission is to provide a loving environment for children who have lived through a great deal of hurt in their young lives and to give them hope for a better tomorrow. "Today there are more than 500,000 children waiting and hoping to be adopted in this country and the Pajama Program is dedicated to helping these young people who may not know the comforts of a mother or father to tuck them into a cozy bed and read them a bedtime story each night," said Genevieve Piturro, founder and executive director, Pajama Program. “We’re truly grateful to Bob’s Discount Furniture for their support of this cause and are excited to be participating in this important, yet fun event focused on the significance of giving back.”
