(Manchester, CT) September 26, 2011 – Bob's Discount Furniture today announced that it will donate money to five schools in Connecticut, the state where its first store was launched 20 years ago. These funds are made possible through money collected in all of the donation jars which are located in each store café.
In September, the Niantic Center School will receive a check for $2,500, and four other schools will receive $1,000 checks:
• Ellington Middle School
• Frank T. Wheeler School (Plainville)
• Harborside Middle School (Milford)
• Killingly Memorial School (Danielson)
Every month, Bob's randomly selects five schools in the communities near its stores and grants a donation ranging from $1,000 - $2,500. With stores across New England, New Jersey, New York, Maryland and Virginia, Bob's has donated money to hundreds of schools across the Northeast over the last 20 years.
“Bob’s values the community support we receive at all of our locations, and we are committed to helping enhance education and arts programs in these areas by encouraging donations and distributing money to worthy schools and community organizations," said Cathy Poulin, Public Relations Director, Bob’s Discount Furniture. “In September, we're supporting several schools in Connecticut, and we look forward to helping out schools in neighboring states as the year goes on."
