BOB’S DISCOUNT FURNITURE OPENS NEW LOCATIONS IN VIRGINIA AND MARYLAND
Bob's Opens Two News Stores in Maryland and Virginia, Brings 120 New Jobs to Community and Donates $20,000 to New Communities

(Manchester, CT) May 13, 2011 – Bob's Discount Furniture today announces the opening of its two newest stores located in Hyattsville, MD and Falls Church, VA  now bringing the total to 42 stores located throughout New England, New Jersey, New York, Virginia and Maryland.  These latest openings come shortly after Bob’s expanded its retail presence last year with openings in Manhattan, Nesconset, Flushing, Glendale, N.Y. and Secaucus, N.J.

Bob’s Discount Furniture has always been dedicated to offering its customers great furniture at untouchable values.  In today’s economic environment, this focus on unbeatable value is increasingly attractive to consumers and has enabled the company to continue aggressive expansion into 2011.  The new store locations in Hyattsville and Falls Church will bring approximately 120 new jobs to the local communities.

Since 1990, Bob’s Discount Furniture has flourished throughout New England, eventually expanding into New York and New Jersey. The move to Hyattsville and Falls Church mark a momentous triumph in the mission of founder, Bob Kaufman, who originally began the business to bring comfort of exceptional furniture to others after it helped him recover from a motorcycle accident.

“We are thrilled to be opening our 41st and 42nd stores and bringing our extraordinary value equation of  the highest quality home furnishings at the lowest cost to the Falls Church and Hyattsville communities,” said Kaufman, President and founder of Bob’s Discount Furniture.

Grand opening festivities will kick-off at the new store locations on Thursday, May 26th at 9:45am with ribbon-cutting ceremonies along with events and activities such as balloon sculpting, face painting and jazz music performances which will run throughout the weekend. 
The Hyattsville store, located at Belcrest Center, 2950 Belcrest Center Drive, will be celebrating its grand opening with Cathy Poulin, Director of Public Relations and TV personality for Bob’s Discount Furniture and Mayor William Gardiner by donating $10,000 on behalf of the Bob’s Outreach program to six local schools:
1.    Hyattsville Middle School
2.    St. Mark Evangelist School Hyattsville
3.    Nicholas Orem Middle School
4.    Northwestern High school
5.    Charles Carroll Middle School
6.    St. Ambrose Elementary School

“The Hyattsville team, consisting of 80 new employees from the surrounding area, is looking forward to bringing great selection and value to Hyattsville,” said Diane Peacor, Hyattsville store manager. “We are just thrilled to be part of Bob’s Discount Furniture’s entrance to the Mid-Atlantic.”
Not too far away, the Falls Church store, located at Bailey’s Crossroads Shopping Center, 5845 Leesburg Pike, will be celebrating its grand opening Kaufman and Fairfax County Public Schools Cluster Assistant Superintendent, Marty Smith by donating $10,000 on behalf of the Bob’s Outreach program to six local schools:
1.    Timber Lane Elementary School
2.    Shrevewood Elementary School
3.    J.E.B. Stuart High School
4.    Haycock Elementary School
5.    Longfellow Middle School
6.    Falls Church High School
