BOB’S DISCOUNT FURNITURE HELPS MAKE HOME MORE COMFORTABLE FOR 10-YEAR-OLD WAKEFIELD BOY WITH MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY
Local Retailer Donates To 2nd Annual Thanksgiving Painting Makeover Giveaway
(Manchester, CT) December 21, 2010 – Bob's Discount Furniture, with 40 retail store locations throughout New England, New Jersey and New York, is pleased to be a part of Dennis Moffit Painting’s 2nd Annual Thanksgiving Painting Makeover Giveaway. After two months of renovations to Adam Aref’s Wakefield home, Dennis Moffitt Painting will be revealing the revamped home to Adam and his family this Thursday the 23rd at 2:30pm.
In October, Adam, a 10-year-old boy with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, was selected from dozens of entries as the recipient of the 2nd Annual Thanksgiving Painting Giveaway. After losing the ability to walk on his own, Adam’s mother realized that their home would not accommodate the necessary equipment Adam would need to get around.
On Halloween, Mike and Dennis Moffit, owners of Wakefield-based Dennis Moffit Painting, were thrilled to let Adam and his family know that they had been selected for a home remodel to make their house more accommodating for Adam. Bob’s Discount Furniture is honored to be one of the nearly 40 people, groups and companies that came together to donate more than $50,000 in labor and materials to help the Moffits make Adam’s house his home once again.
After a couple months of work, the grand reveal will welcome Adam home to a brand new living space specially designed for his wheelchair. By converting the garage into a bedroom and living space with a wheelchair-accessible bathroom and adding a new walkway and ramp into the main entrance of the house, Adam will once again be able to move around his own home.
“We couldn’t be happier to be able to provide this wonderful young man with the necessary furniture for his new bedroom and living space,” said Cathy Poulin, Public Relations Director, Bob’s Discount Furniture. “Adam is truly inspirational and we are so glad that we can have a part in helping to make his home as comfortable and accessible as possible.”
