Bob's Helps Framingham Residents Devastated by Burglary

As Part of Continued Commitment to the Community, Bob’s Discount Furniture in Natick Pitches in with MCI Framingham to Donate Bedroom Set

Earlier this week Bob's Discount Furniture, the 2008 Furniture Retailer of the Year, with 31 stores throughout New England and New York, reached out once again to help the community as part of its outreach program.  Bob’s joined forces with officers at MCI Framingham to help Framingham residents Neuza Pestana and Paolo Lima after all of their furniture and belongings were stolen.  As part of Bob’s commitment to community outreach in Natick and surrounding areas, Bob’s donated a bedroom set to the couple.  The gift of furniture was presented in conjunction with money raised by MCI Framingham officers for the residents.

After saving up to visit family in Brazil, Neuza and Paolo returned home from vacation last week to find that all of their furniture and belongings were stolen - the only item left in their home was a lamp.  As an employee at MCI Framingham, Neuza’s story spread around the department and Officer Bob Sweeney and his co-workers quickly organized a Clambake fundraiser to collect money to help the couple replace their stolen belongings.  As part of their efforts, Officer Sweeney reached out to Bob’s Discount Furniture in Natick to lend a hand.

“As soon as we heard the story from Officer Bob Sweeney, we quickly did everything we could to participate in the efforts to help Neuza and Paolo.  Community outreach is extremely important to us at Bob’s and we were honored that the officers at MCI Framingham reached out to us,” said Bob Kaufman, president and founder of Bob’s Discount Furniture.  “We expedited the delivery of the bedroom set because we simply can’t stand the thought of anyone sleeping on the floor!”

This week’s clambake raised more than $1200 for Neuza and Paolo.  After the fundraiser, Neuza and her family and friends, along with Officer Bob Sweeney and 25 officers from MCI Framingham headed to Bob’s Discount Furniture in Natick to present Neuza with the money raised.  In addition, Bob Kaufman and Cathy Poulin, PR Director and Bob’s Discount Furniture personality, were on hand to donate a bedroom set of Neuza and Paolo’s choosing.
