Bob's Discount Furniture Donates Computers & $500 Check To The Anna Cross Mersereau Intermediate School, Bronx, NY

Today, Bob's Discount Furniture, the fastest growing furniture retailer in the northeast, with stores in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island, announced it recently presented a donation of two laptop computers and $500 to the Anna Mersereau Intermediate School for student research and project programs. The new Bob's Discount Furniture Community Outreach Van surprised the Bronx, NY school and several other locations in the region with donations.

Bob's Discount Furniture Joins With Humane Societies, Animal Shelters & Rescue Centers On "Have A Heart Day" On Saturday, May 17th To Help Pet Adoption Efforts

Today, Bob's Discount Furniture, the fastest growing furniture retailer in the northeast, with stores in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island, announced that it is joining with humane societies, animal shelters and rescue centers on "Have A Heart Day" on Saturday, May 17, 2008 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., in an effort to encourage donations of pet bedding, treats, new or gently used toys and new transportation crates for needy dogs and cats. All families are invited to visit their nearest Bob's Discount Furniture location on "Have A Heart Day" for a day of meaningful fun and also help to find homes for these loving pets.

2007 Holiday Blood Drive at Gillette Stadium a Success:

Alan Hawkes of Woburn Mass. received an unexpected Christmas present when he was awarded two tickets to this Sunday's Patriots game against the Miami Dolphins for being the 20,000th "Bob's Squad" donor at Tuesday's blood drive sponsored by Bob's Discount Furniture with the American Red Cross at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.

Charity Update - 12/7/07

2007 Golf for Charity Our 2007 Annual Golf Tournament turned out to be our most successful yet. Through rigorous efforts by the Charitable Foundation, our Sponsors, and Bobs Discount Furniture employees and the generous donations by all who helped plan and participate in the event, we were able to raise over $350,000 for Camp Rising Sun and other childrens charities. We work to help year round, and donations are always accepted.

Our Commitment

We would not be where we are today without the support of others in our lives, so we utilize our resources to give back and help the communities around us. Our donations come in many forms and for many reasons. Although our primary focus is children, both healthy and those dealing with an illness, we try to provide assistance to as many areas as possible.

Daily Contributions

On a daily basis, gift certificates are given to various agencies to support clients with children who need some extra help in obtaining such valuable things as bedding for a good night’s rest. Additional requests are supported daily to organizations in the New England region looking for assistance with fundraisers, furnishings and program support.

Annual Sponsorships

Every year we have a foundation fundraiser supported by our many friends, allowing us to distribute significant funds to the following organizations:

• American Red Cross benefits from our in store blood drives
• American Cancer Society’s Camp Rising Sun for children with cancer.
• Nutmeg Chapter of the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Organization providing positive role models to needy youth.
• Family and Children Aid provides safe homes for youth in transition along with necessary support services.
• Connecticut Children’s Medical Center provides pediatric focused medical care.
• Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut provides housing for families with children in the hospital.

We support yearly donations in the forms of a gift certificate donation to a variety of schools, communities and organizations as a fundraiser for their cause. We also promote the March Of Dimes Walk America program by providing spokespeople and commercials on both radio and television. Production and airtime are covered as well.

How to Apply for Assistance

We would like to thank you for taking the time to ask for our possible inclusion as a sponsor of your charitable efforts. With more than 1,600 employees and 29 stores in seven states we receive many requests. To ensure fairness, instead of providing sponsorships to individuals, we provide resources from our charitable foundation directly to non-profit organizations [501 (3) c] who distribute to individuals. If you are an individual or an agency representing an individual, please read this letter.

To apply for assistance from Bob's Charitable Foundation, please submit a request with specific details on the letterhead of a non-profit organization. For example, if your neighbors suffers a house fire, and you want to help them get replacement bedding for their family, please ask their Red Cross case worker to send a letter directly to us.
